Tourism Spain



Spain is a tourist country, attending million foreign travelers every year attracted by its beaches, the rich heritage of the country and the variety of gastronomic offers, in addition to being one of the wealthiest nations in the world cultural heritage. Currently, according to the 2014 report of the World Tourism Organization, Spain is the third country in the world in number of foreign tourists, with 60.6 million tourists per year in 2013, surpassed only by France and the United States of America.5 tourism accounts for about 10% of the gross domestic product of country.6 regarding sector revenues by countries, Spain is the second country in the world, surpassed only by US.7 the main tourist destination well-being is Catalonia Barcelona the main city of tourists- followed by the Balearic and Canary Islands.


Spain is the third largest number of entries and second in tourism revenue, according to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), just behind the United States also is the first European destination in tourist arrivals (Eurostat) and the world's fate in holiday tourism.
In previous decades was promoted almost exclusively tourism sun and beach, which contributed, and contributes a lot warmer and sunnier than other European countries climate. Summer temperatures usually vary between 20 and 40 degrees and many regions have over 300 days of sunshine annually, with generally dry summers. Many coastal towns are lined with hotels, restaurants and apartment buildings at the foot of the beach.
Northern Spain has a somewhat cooler, wetter climate. Many Spaniards and foreigners are attracted by the Camino de Santiago or the festival of San Fermin. There is so much cliffs, as quiet and secluded beaches. This area combines rural tourism with great beaches with good weather in summer and in the Rias Baixas in Galicia. The main cause of tourism in the north is the beauty of the area (geography, Galician rias, Cantabrian coast, Picos de Europa, etc.) and the rich and varied cuisine.
The Spanish cuisine is wide and varied, with typical dishes such as paella, Madrid stew, bean stew, Iberian ham, seafood or fish. Olive oil, of which Spain is the largest producer, is used in a variety of dishes, and is very popular in other countries.


In recent years there has been growing interest in cultural tourism in Spain.
